UN Secretary-General and Senegalese President Inspected UN Office Building in West Africa

At 3 p.m. local time on May 1, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, accompanied by Senegalese President Macky Sall, inspected the UN office building in West Africa. As one of the project investors and the main contractor, ZHENGWEI Senegal was involved in receiving the visitors. Qi Pan, Deputy General Manager of ZHENGWEI Senegal, Han Shaobo, project leader of the UN Office Building in West Africa, Yu Bingxin, Deputy Chief Engineer of WIETC and other employees accompanied the visit.

The UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Senegalese President Macky Sall listened to the project report in the entrance lobby of the main building. Then they visited the underground circular conference room, inner-ring corridor, office and outdoor landscape on level R+3 while listening to the report on the concept of intelligent and energy-efficient construction. After seeing the elegant design, reasonable layout, highly intelligent configuration and high standard construction quality of the project, the Secretary-General and the President were very pleased and highly praised the construction of the project. They also expressed heartfelt thanks to the constructors for their hard work and efforts. In the end, Secretary-General António Guterres and Senegalese President Macky Sall happily took a group photo with the members who took part in the inspection.

UN Office Building in West Africa is located in Dakar, the capital of Senegal. It is a project conducted by our company in the mode of PPP with the integration of investment, construction and operation. Upon completion, it will be delivered to 34 UN organizations in West Africa for centralized office use. The project covers an area of 13 hectares, with a total building area of 65,000m². The main building is surrounded and connected by seven single buildings in the shape of windmills, with the functions and construction standards referring to those of UN headquarters. The project started in April 2019. The commissioning is scheduled to be finished and the project is to be delivered by the end of June 2022.
